Introduction:
The intent of these processes are to ensure the safety of our student-athletes as they return to campus and athletic activity during the COVID-19 Pandemic. These processes stem from Hillsborough Community College’s protocols, recommendations of the CDC (Center for Disease and Control), NJCAA (National Junior College Athletic Association), and NATA (National Athletic Trainers Association). This plan will be subject to change as the federal, state, and local guidelines are issued.
A-01 (COVID-19 Return Plan Process 2) – Prevention
Purpose:
This process outlines the procedures for preventing the spread of COVID-19 within the Athletics Department, The College, and the community.

Mask Wearing: Everyone is expected to wear a mask while inside college facilities.

Daily screening and temperature reading must be completed by administrative staff, athletic
trainer, or coaching staff

Ice baths in the training room tubs will no longer be permitted
A-02 (COVID-19 Return Plan Process 3) – Screening
Purpose:
This provides outlines the procedures for daily screening of student-athletes and coaches.

A daily screening is required for all student-athletes and coaches who will participate in any practice, games, and matches. The daily screening will include symptom and temperature checks.

Any member of the coaching staff, an administrator, or the athletic trainer can perform the screening.

A temperature reading must be taken every day. If the temperature is 100.4 (or higher), a recheck will be allowed after a cool down period of 30 minutes only if they have no other symptoms. If temperature still reads 100.4 or higher, the student-athlete must social distance for the next 24 hours

If a positive screening occurs, the following procedures must be followed:

The student must social distance from his/her team and other college community
members for 24 hours.

The student-athlete will be required to return to place of residence for the next 24
hours.

After 24 hours, the student athlete will be re-screened. If symptoms are still present, the
Symptom Based Strategy will be used to track a return to campus and athletics.

A-04 (COVID-19 Return Plan Process 4) –Positive Test Occurs
Purpose:
This process outlines the procedures if a student-athlete reports a positive test or has symptoms of COVID-19.

A positive case or symptoms will be reported to the HCC Campus COVID-19 Point Person

Athletics will refer to the COVID-19 response team to do their assessment and contact tracing.
A-05 (COVID-19 Return Plan Process 5) - Travel
Purpose:
This process outlines restrictions and procedures for safe travel to competition

Screening and temperature checks must be completed prior to departure for all student- athletes, coaches, and staff members planning to travel

A student athlete with covid-19 related symptoms will not be permitted to travel
A-06 (COVID-19 Return Plan Process 6) – Arrival to venue
Purpose:
This process outlines a team’s procedure when arriving at another college or competition site
1. All team’s traveling to another college or competition site are required to follow their COVID-19 policies.
A-07 (COVID-19 Return Plan Process 7) – Home Games
1. Masks:

Bench personnel (managers, statistician, athletic trainer, etc.) are expected to wear
masks.

Student-athletes and coaches who are on the bench or participating in the athletic
activity are expected to wear masks.
2. Spectators

Spectators are permitted at home games and matches both on and off campus

Spectators are expected to wear masks.

Spectators must follow policies at home venues not located on campus (i.e. Yankees
facilities, City of Tampa).
A-07 (COVID-19 Return Plan Process 7) – Home Games
